Anoushka Bhalla is an artist and writer based between New York City and India.

Her practice explores the human condition of existence through visual research into the materialization of collective and generational trauma and the decay of collective intergenerational memory. Her art, vacillating between the abstract and the representational, is derived from real historical archives of the colonized people and sites of ethnic cleansing in her homeland of South Asia and within the wider global landscape. Born out of the histories of bodily trauma, loom of death and the spectacle of genocide as seen through memories of ancestral massacres, local and global holocausts, histories of slavery and other modes of violences, she engages with an autodestructive method of art-making to relay the universal condition of human trauma.
