Anoushka Bhalla is an artist and writer based between New York City and India.

Her works explores the human condition and the anxieties at the heart of the human experience. She engage with art- making as a form of introspection, catharsis and research, often alternating between the three. Her practice is a visual research into the materialization of collective trauma, memory, grief, death and existence experienced through the wounds of bygone violences on the body.

Anoushka's art is born out of nihilist expressions of trauma of the body and the imminence of death seen through the decayed memories of ancestral and colonial genocides in her homeland of India and within the wider global landscape. As such her oeuvre encompasses renditions of the human body, intermediating between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, often characterised by an auto-destructive method of making.
